Canada is a global leader in medical education. Integral to our system are the high standards that the Royal College maintains for residency training. The Royal College engages in collaborative and often altruistic international activities as a good global citizen.
Formalizing our approach
The Royal College formed Royal College Canada International (RCCI), a not-for-profit corporation offering the Royal College’s services internationally on a cost-recovery basis. RCCI strives to enhance educational standards and approaches, and the health of populations globally. Our activities include:
- International conferences
- Program consultations
- Frameworks for standards and accreditation
- Faculty development
- Assessment and evaluation
- Technology to support medical education
RCCI’s International activities:
- Promote global health education, services and research
- Provide educational and medical expertise and technologies
- Improve populations’ health systems and outcomes
- Promote the Royal College as a global leader in medical education and continuing professional development
- Provide opportunities for collaboration and partner feedback
- Connect the Royal College with organizations sharing our values
Humanitarian work is also on our minds. We are committed to operating in a not-for-profit and not-for loss way, so we are exploring opportunities to enhance and expand our ability to participate in this type of work.
