Awards and grants build a better health care system
The Royal College encourages excellence in specialty medicine by distributing $1 million a year in awards, grants, fellowships and visiting professorships. In this way, we support our Fellows as they develop new knowledge in their medical fields and bring a higher level of expertise to their practice.
Funding for our awards and grants program comes from member contributions, annual membership dues, interest income from our Educational Fund and generous donors.
Ultimately, patients benefit
The Royal College’s investment in awards and grants pays off for all Canadians by supporting group learning activities, individual learning projects and educational research and development. Our awards and grants support a wide range of portfolios in the medical industry, from professional development, medical research and travelling fellowships to expertise awards and visiting professorship grants.

An equitable process
A peer-review selection process ensures that awards and grants are distributed fairly. Many volunteers committee members devote considerable time to adjudicating the program and The Royal College would like to acknowledge and thank them for their work.
Get involved
We encourage members of the Royal College to put their personal mark on our awards and grants program. Fellows may wish to nominate a colleague for a specific honour. Others may wish to seek funding to further their own education, build new skills or conduct important research.
