Grants support research and development
The Royal College’s grants and fellowships program supports research and development into medical education, continuing professional development and as well as issues that address the needs of Canadian society. Our grants and fellowships also support the professional development of individuals and groups working across a range of medical issues.

Faculty Development Grant to enhance the quality of medical teachers
Medical Education Research Grant* to support quality research in postgraduate medical education and continuing professional development
Royal College/AMS CanMEDS Research and Development Grant* to support the promotion and incorporation of CanMEDS competencies
CPD Activity Grant (Royal College Speakers and Visiting Professors) to support regional/community forums on specialty medicine
Detweiler Travelling Fellowship to acquire new knowledge or pursue research
International Travelling Fellowship to support Fellows residing in Canada who wish to practice and teach in a less developed country OR, for Fellows residing outside Canada, to study or undertake research in Canada
Medical Education Travelling Fellowship to acquire expertise in the field of medical education
Professional Development Grant to support personalized and practical professional development
Royal College Fellowship for Studies in Medical Education* to support pursuing a postgraduate degree in medical education (or a closely related field)
Walter C. MacKenzie Fellowship in Surgery to acquire surgical expertise (clinical or research)
