Guidelines
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity grants are provided to physician organizations to assist in the development of group learning events. These group learning events must be developed to meet the educational and ethical standards established by the Royal College for accredited group learning within Section 1 of the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program.

General Policies
All group learning activities must:

    • Be reviewed and approved by an Accredited CPD Provider;
    • Have a defined target audience that includes specialists and
    • Be at least 3 hours in duration.

CPD Activity Grant Eligibility

    • Each applicant must be a regional or provincial organization that meets the Royal College definition of a physician organization;
    • Each department within a faculty is considered an individual applicant.
    • The group activity must meet the accreditation standards of the Royal College for group learning activities;
    • The group activity must occur in the region where the application was sent for review and
    • The applicant is eligible to receive a CPD grant once every 2 years.

Application Process

    • A Royal College Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Activity Grant application form must be completed and forwarded to the Office of Professional Affairs at the Royal College by a Fellow in good standing who is the chair or member of the planning committee.
    • This application form must be submitted to the Office of Professional Affairs at least 8 weeks in advance of the start of the planned group event.

Acknowledgment
All successful applicants must agree to list the Royal College as providing an educational grant in support of the event by displaying the Royal College logo (provided to successful applicants) on the sponsor page of the program, separate to the scientific content.

Grant Amount and Conditions
All successful grant applicants will receive a maximum of $1,000. The amount awarded will be based on the following criteria:

    • The total amount of industry funding;
    • The anticipated expenses in relation to anticipated revenue.

100% of the allocated grant funds will be distributed at the time the application is approved.  In the event of a cancelled activity, the Royal College will ask for the funds to be returned.

Within three (3)  months of the event’s conclusion the organizers will forward to the Office of Professional Affairs a summary of the evaluation forms outlining the feedback provided by registrants.

The Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) Chairs are responsible for administering the budget devoted to providing financial support to regional CPD activities. Funding is limited as the budget is prorated based on the number of Fellows within each region.

    • Region 3: Ontario and Nunavut
