The CanMEDS Physician Competency Framework identifies and describes seven roles of a specialist physician: Medical Expert, Communicator, Collaborator, Manager, Health Advocate, Scholar and Professional. The Royal College supports the integration of these competencies into physicians’ practice by developing resources and services for postgraduate medical education and continuing professional development.
