The Royal College supports lifelong learning as well as the assessment of competence and performance from residency through practice and into retirement. We believe in cultivating a nurturing and collegial atmosphere, encouraging Fellows to contribute to initiatives that affect specialty medicine and to share knowledge and best practices.
We also represent the interests of Fellows to important health care partners, influencers and decision-makers; our work in this realm helps unite the best views on how to improve specialty medicine and keep Canadians healthy.
Obtain credentials recognized around the world
Fellows of the Royal College have the privilege of using the professional designations FRCPC or FRCSC. In this way, physicians demonstrate to peers, patients and regulatory authorities that they meet the Royal College’s internationally renowned standards for practice. They also show that they possess CanMEDS competencies.
Automatically enroll in MOC
The Royal College’s Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program is a framework and e-learning space that helps Fellows organize, document and evaluate their individual learning plans for continuing professional development. In doing this, Fellows not only maintain a high level of expertise, but also demonstrate transparency and accountability to the public, peers and regulators.
Gain an influential voice in specialty medical education
Fellows can help influence the direction of specialty medical education by voting, serving on Royal College committees and exam boards, participating in surveys and standing for elected office within the Royal College.
Associate with like-minded professionals
Fellows attend events, conferences and engage in many other interactive forms of collaboration with the Royal College and other Fellows. They benefit from contributing to the dialogue about health issues and have an invaluable opportunity to learn from peers.
Enhance education internationally
Royal College Fellows have the opportunity to contribute to international initiatives in residency education, continuing professional development, accreditation and other areas.
Receive timely medical news
Fellows can expect that the Royal College will communicate with them regularly and effectively, in part through our monthly Dialogue e-newsletter.
