Each year, nearly 3,000 dedicated Fellows volunteer their time to keep the Royal College at the forefront of specialist medical education, continuing professional development and sound health policy. Volunteers fulfill vital functions such as developing and administering examinations, accrediting residency programs, serving on committees, facilitating conferences and workshops, serving on task forces and working groups, and taking on international roles within the Royal College.
Recognizing our volunteers
Without volunteers, the Royal College could not accomplish its mission. Therefore, we work to cultivate an environment in which volunteers feel valued and motivated to provide their best. That includes celebrating volunteer contributions in a transparent, fair and consistent way across the organization.
In late May 2010, we sent a survey to volunteers that gauged their level of satisfaction with how the Royal College recognizes their efforts. We will use this valuable information to design an improved volunteer recognition program, scheduled for implementation in 2011.
