In 2003, the Royal College established the Centre for Learning in Practice (CLIP) to research the most effective ways for physicians to learn. CLIP’s work improves the science of medical education, the ways in which physicians practise and, as a result, the health of all Canadians.
Central to the Royal College’s mission
CLIP, as a unit with the Royal College’s Office of Professional Affairs, promotes scholarly discussion about learning theory, as well as the strategies and interventions that lead to better physician learning.
CLIP conducts both theoretical and applied research on how education can affect the ways in which physicians practise, as well as the best ways to provide continuing medical development and education for physicians throughout their careers.
Learning strategies for individuals and teams
CLIP researches self-directed learning for individual physicians as well as team-based learning. Specifically, we work with individuals and organizations interested in:
lifelong learning for physicians
multidisciplinary education
learning within the health service sector
health related research and development
A valuable resource for Fellows engaged in lifelong learning and medical education research
We offer a wide range of resources on the topics of continuing professional development, medical education research and funding opportunities, as well as tools we have developed for improving lifelong learning and research, and general information on national specialty societies and other important Royal College links and publications.
