Become a Diplomate Affiliate
If you have completed an Area of Focused Competence (Diploma) program, or AFC (Diploma), but are not Royal College-certified, you can become a Diplomate Affiliate. Only those who maintain their status as a Diplomate or Diplomate Affiliate can use the designation DRCPSC (Diplomate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada). Note that a DRCPSC designation does not grant Fellowship in the Royal College. Diplomate Affiliate status does not provide member privileges such as voting rights and access to volunteer positions reserved for Fellows. However, it does provide access to the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program. Participation in MOC is a requirement for ongoing Diplomate Affiliate status.
Physicians and surgeons who have been certified by the Royal College, either before or after completing their AFC (Diploma) program, are eligible for the Diplomate category, not the Diplomate Affiliate category.
Becoming a Diplomate Affiliate
After you complete an AFC (Diploma) program, you will receive information inviting you to become a Diplomate Affiliate. This process involves completing a consent form and an agreement to pay dues.
Once you are signed up, you will receive information regarding MOC Program participation (if you are new to the program), an invoice for pro-rated dues, and a Diplomate Affiliate certificate suitable for framing.
Why become a Diplomate Affiliate?
Diplomate Affiliates enjoy many Royal College benefits, such as eligibility to use the Diplomate designation (DRCPSC) and personalized support and assistance with MOC Program requirements.
