To have your training and/or practice assessed by the Royal College, you are required to pay assessment fees.
If you are writing a Royal College exam, you will also be required to pay exam fees when you register for your exam.
If you are a physician applying for Royal College certification, you must first apply for a training and/or practice assessment to ensure you have met specialty-specific training and/or practice standards to register for the examination.
It may take from six to eight months to receive your letter of exam eligibility. Please note that these costs are only for the training and/or practice assessment. Exam fees are paid separately.
Fees are listed in Canadian dollars and are subject to change each year. Fees are collected when you apply.

All exam registration fees must be paid online by credit card. Once your registration form has been submitted, you must submit payment online to complete your exam registration. The online payment link will be included in your exam registration email, which is sent from the Credentials Unit.

If you are preparing to write a Royal College exam, the Objectives of Training document contains useful information regarding the content for your specialty or subspecialty exam. In addition, the Exam Format document will often list reference materials and practice questions that are specific to your specialty or subspecialty.

Visit the list of provincial and territorial medical regulatory authorities (MRA). Depending on your route for assessment, you may need to get in touch with your MRA as part of the process.
In addition, all postgraduate residents and all practising physicians must hold an educational or practice licence from the medical regulatory authority in the province or territory where they study or practise.
