The Royal College Educational Fund
Supporting specialty medicine worldwide
The Royal College supports specialty medicine through its awards, grants and recognition programs. Funding for these programs comes from a variety of sources, including our Educational Fund and generous donors. We encourage Fellows as well as the public to leave their personal mark by helping support the work of specialists and medical researchers across the country.
A proud legacy of funding excellence
The Educational Fund was established in 1959 to broaden the educational support available for specialty medicine. An Educational Fund Committee headed by H.K. Detweiler, MD, FRCPC, proposed a variety of new programs, including annual travelling fellowships for young medical graduates and hospital medical staff.
Royal College grants and fellowship programs
Since its formation, the Educational Fund has been entirely supported by Fellows’ donations, individual bequests and the Royal College. It remains a vital part of our work to advance specialty medicine and has provided support for thousands of deserving specialists, educators and residents through visiting professorships, travelling fellowships and grants.
