FAQ

About Membership Dues

Annual membership dues are approved at the Annual Meeting of the Members held each February. Since 2020, dues remain unchanged at the rate of C$990 for Active Fellows residing and practising in Canada. (Long term members pay C$247.) View the full list of fees and reduction amounts.

  1. What is a reactivation fee and why it is being implemented?
The reactivation fee ($500) includes both the late fees ($150) and reinstatement fee ($350). These fees encourage timely payment and cover the cost of administrative efforts related to reactivation.
  2. What is reinstatement?
Reinstatement is the process of reopening the member account that was closed due to default payment of dues. The following activities will occur with reinstatement: reestablishing MOC cycle and adding the participant back to the directory.
  3. When will I receive my membership card?
Membership cards are no longer mailed. Once payment has been processed, access the Self-Service menu to download your membership card.

    • HSBC Canada
    • National Bank
    • PC Financial
    • RBC
    • Scotiabank
    • TD Canada Trust

By phone: Call and pay by credit card 613-730-6260 or 1-800-668-3740.

    Contact us: Finance Department
    Email: finance@royalcollege.ca
    Telephone: 613-730-6260; toll-free 1-800-668-3740

  2. I cannot locate my Royal College ID number.

You will find your ID number on your annual dues invoice. You can also recover your ID number through the Royal College’s secure access log-in page.

  3. I can’t find my password.

It is the same password that you would use to access the MAINPORT ePortfolio. If you don’t remember it, you can reset it online via the Royal College’s secure access log-in page lost my ID number.

  4. Receipt for proof of payment / income tax

Income tax receipts are available for download shortly following the processing of your payment or donation. Download your receipt here.

If you require a receipt for payment or donation made prior to 2016, contact membership services.

  5. Receipt states “no payments were made”

Verify you’ve selected the applicable year and receipt type. Visit the annual dues information page to review payment options.

  6. Receiving statements of a balance owing after payment

Statements are issued until the balance is paid in full. If you received a statement after issuing a payment, the likely cause is that there is a partial balance remaining. Refer to your last statement for your remaining balance. A receipt will be updated and available for download shortly after your payment has been processed.

  7. Credit for overpayment
  8. Overpayments are reflected in your January statement. While the annual invoice will show the full membership fee due, when you pay online through the Royal College’s secure website, the balance owing will reflect any overpayment.

Fee Reduction (Fellows only)

  1. I have extraordinary financial or personal circumstances. How can the Royal College assist if I cannot afford to pay?

Use the fee reduction options available (exclusive to Fellows) to relieve financial burden. Subsequent renewal of the fee reduction is granted upon review by the membership team and may be subject to refusal.

It is inadvisable to have your account defaulted due to late payment of dues because your account will be subject to late fees and then reactivation fees. We highly recommend contacting membership services to request a fee reduction. Apply for a fee reduction here.

Note: Maintenance of Certification cycles may be adjusted based on the duration of family or health leaves. Please see the online Maintenance of Certification Cycle Adjustment form

  2. How long do I have to wait to pay after I apply for a fee reduction?

If you pay through your financial institution’s website, you can pay the correct reduced amount right away. However, if you wish to pay through the Royal College’s secure website, please wait five working days while we apply the fee reduction to your account. Once we have updated your balance, we will send you an email confirming that you can pay the reduced amount online through our website.

  3. I’m a Fellow participating in Post-Grad Studies. Are there fee reductions and what are the expectations for MOC?

If you are in full-time postgraduate learning and a Fellow you are eligible for a fee reduction. As a Royal College Fellow you have been enrolled in a five-year MOC cycle and must meet the usual adherence and compliance requirements for Royal College MOC participation. Royal College Fellows can earn and claim up to 100 credits a year towards their MOC cycle for postgraduate studies alone.
