Advancing learning for specialist physicians to deliver the best health care for all.

Your membership: an investment that matters

For the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada to enhance member support in key areas, keep pace with inflationary costs and be financially healthy, a modest increase to all member fees for 2023-2024 was approved at the Annual Meeting of the Members (AMM) on February 24, 2023.

The annual dues notification was sent on March 6, 2023, to all members of the Royal College, including Fellows, Resident Affiliates, International/U.S. Fellows, MOC Program Participants and Diplomates. Fellow dues have been increased by $70 and are set for 2023-2024 at $1060.

Why have member dues increased?

Member dues have been at the same level for three years. During this time, the cumulative consumer price index or inflation has risen by close to 12 per cent. The proposed increase is to generate revenue to offset increased operating expenses tied to inflation, while also investing in the renewal of our strategic initiatives.

Making improvements for our members

We are also focused on enhancing your member experience. To better understand the direct impact of your support, here are some of the key areas we are working on to improve our programs and services for you.

  • We’re investing in the future to better serve members. As part of that commitment, we are undergoing a significant enterprise-wide transformation of our digital platforms and services. This digital transformation aims to improve the member experience through our website and provide seamless digital access to our services.
  • We are revitalizing our CPD and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) programs, which includes work to simplify the MOC framework and enhance our learning offerings. As part of the overall digital transformation project, we will develop and implement a user-friendly dashboard to support the program.
  • We are updating CanMEDS 2025, the CanERA accreditation system, Competence by Design (CBD) and our routes to certification to ensure contemporary standards are in place and to address unintended impacts.
  • We are focused on taking a leadership role in areas that matter to our members such as: health human resources/physician wellness; planetary health; equity, diversity and inclusion, anti-racism and reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.

We are committed to keeping you informed of our progress as we move forward. In addition, you are always welcome to reach out to the Royal College to provide feedback or to learn more about our programs and services by emailing membership@royalcollege.ca.
