Peter Francis Kelly,  MBChB, FRCPC, died on April 13, 2023, in Kingston, Ont., at age  87. He was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1968.  Dr. Kelly practised Psychiatry in Kingston and served as a consultant with Correctional Services Canada. After retiring from clinical practice in 1994, he moved to Ottawa where he practised part-time at the National Defence Medical Centre and served on the Ontario Review Board. Read more about Dr. Kelly.

Faudry Pierre-Louis, MD, FRCPC, died on June 25, 2023, in Orleans, Ont., at age 86. He obtained his was certified by the Royal College in Psychiatry in 1972. Dr. Pierre-Louis obtained his medical degree from the State University of Haiti in 1963.  His kindness and generosity were an inspiration to all who knew him and he will be missed by friends and family. Read more about Dr. Pierre-Louis.

Benjamin Arthur Sawer, MD, FRCSC, died on June 12, 2023, in Vancouver, B.C., at age 76. He was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1977. Inspired by his grandfather, Dr. Sawer pursued a lifelong career as a general surgeon. Following the completion of his  training, he took his young family to Africa for two years, where he was the only surgeon in a 1,200-bed hospital. He moved back to Canada and practised surgery in Chilliwack, B.C. for 20 years. The second half of his career was spent working overseas and in the Arctic. Read more about Dr. Sawer

Véronique Fryer, MD, FRCPC, died on June 18, 2023, in Montréal, Que., at age 39. She was certified by the Royal College in Public Health and Preventive Medicine in 2021. Dr. Fryer obtained her medical degree from the University of Sherbrooke in 2007. She is missed by family and friends, as well as her colleagues in the Public Health Department at the Centre intégré universitaire de santé et de services sociaux de la Capitale-National. . Read more about Dr. Fryer.

Frances Janet McGoey Crawley, MD, FRCSC, died on June 20, 2023, in Falmouth, N.S., at age 76. She was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1988. Dr. Crawley obtained her medical degree from Dalhousie University in 1983. Dr. Crawley devoted her career to working  as a general surgeon in a small community hospital in Windsor, N.S. – Hants Community Hospital – where she enjoyed working with dedicated and hard-working medical professionals and staff. Read more about Dr. Crawley.

Vincent Chi-Wai Mak, MBBS, FRCSC, died on August 3, 2022, in Markham, Ont., at age 62. He was certified by the Royal College in Internal Medicine (1996) and Rheumatology (1997). Dr. Mak obtained his medical degree from the University of Hong Kong in 1984. He is remembered as a remarkable and talented doctor, having lent his services and wisdom to many people over the course of his career. Read more about Dr. Mak.

Ouida Ramon-Moliner, MBChB, FRCPC, died on February 21, 2020, in North Hatley, Que., at age 90. She was certified by the Royal College in Anesthesiology in 1967. Dr. Ramon-Moliner obtained her medical degree at the University of Dublin, Trinity College, in 1953. She joined the newly founded Faculty of Medicine in Sherbrooke in 1967 where she taught and worked until 1995. In retirement, Dr. Ramon-Moliner continued to be a resource for the community, serving on several committees and volunteering in many other ways. Read more about Dr. Ramon-Moliner.

Edward James Turner, MD, FRCPC, died on April 11, 2022, in Salmon Arm, B.C., at age 92. He was certified by the Royal College in Pediatrics in 1959.  Dr. Turner obtained his medical degree from the University of Malta in 1952.  During his career, he assisted with the tuberculosis outbreaks in Canada among Inuit Peoples and served as the chief medical officer for the 1977 International Scout Jamboree in Prince Edward Island. Dr. Turner practised in Edmonton until he was 72. Read more about Dr. Turner.

Thomas Arthur Jory, MD, FRCSC, died on January 17, 2023, in London, Ont., at age  92. He was certified by the Royal College in General Surgery in 1961. Dr. Jory obtained his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1955. He taught in Western’s  Department of Medicine and mentored countless grateful medical students. Practising General Surgery for more than 45 years, he is remembered for his dedication to wellbeing of his patients, . Read more about Dr. Jory.
