Note: You must register first with the Royal College before you can apply for exam eligibility.
If you haven’t completed this step you cannot move forward. Please read the instructions beforehand.

If you are a resident who has completed some or all residency training in the United States in a training program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), you can apply for a training assessment by registering with the Royal College and submitting your application through our eBooking system at https://booking.royalcollege.ca/. Please use Google Chrome as your browser. This assessment ensures you have met specialty-specific training requirements in a recognized and approved program.

The training assessment is the first step on your route to Royal College certification and it is required to determine if you are eligible to write a Royal College exam. Exam eligibility is granted for a five-year period following your training assessment. After the five-year period has elapsed, no further eligibility will be granted.

Our Credentials Unit will confirm your exam eligibility with your program to ensure you have met the specialty-specific training requirements. The Credentials Unit must receive confirmation from your program director and postgraduate dean (with information provided by the competence committee for residents in CBD programs) that you are eligible to sit the examination. The Royal College will then issue your exam eligibility letter after we receive that confirmation. Your eligibility letter is valid for five years.

If the Royal College does not receive this confirmation, you will not receive an exam eligibility letter.

An exam eligibility letter is required to register for the Royal College exam. If you are deemed eligible, you will receive an email providing a link to our eBooking system.
