Committee recruitment

The Royal College is recruiting to fill positions on our governing committees for terms that will begin in February 2024.  

The deadline to apply is November 13, 2023 at 9:30 am.

Current opportunities

Please refer to the respective committee’s terms of reference (linked below) for information about the committee’s responsibilities and anticipated workload. All of our committee positions are volunteer positions, with travel expenses reimbursed for in-person meetings. While in-person meetings do take place, virtual meetings are a normal part of committee operations. 

Data and Informatics Governance Committee

Terms of reference

Members of the Data and Informatics Governance Committee play a key role in overseeing the Royal College’s strategy, opportunities, risks, and performance relating to data and digital transformation initiatives.

Position under recruitment:

  • One Royal College Fellow with demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with data governance, digitalization, and AI initiatives. Experience with Royal College data, products, and services is an asset.

Financial Risk and Reporting Oversight Committee

Terms of reference

Members of the Financial Risk and Reporting Oversight Committee play a key role in assisting Council in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities in the areas of enterprise risk management (strategic, operational and external risks), financial reporting, the annual audit processes, and compliance with laws and regulations.

Positions under recruitment:

  • Two members (Royal College Fellows or public members) with business acumen and demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, accounting, and risk management principles. General knowledge of the Royal College and its subsidiaries is an asset.

Committee on Specialty Education

Terms of reference

Members of the Committee on Specialty Education play a key role in enhancing the quality and effectiveness of the Royal College’s lifelong learning continuum and standards and accreditation processes in order to maintain the Royal College’s high standards.

Position under recruitment: 

  • One Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Dean.

AFC Accreditation Committee

Terms of Reference

Members of the AFC Accreditation Committee play a key role in ensuring that AFC programs accredited by the Royal College meet the requirements and guidelines for accreditation of the Areas of Focused Competence disciplines. In addition, members help to develop the accreditation system (including standards, policies, and processes) for the AFC programs.

Positions under recruitment: 

  • Four Royal College Fellows with demonstrated knowledge of
    • Royal College accreditation standards; and/or
    • knowledge of policies and processes relating to accreditation of postgraduate training (including AFC) programs.

Continuing Professional Development Accreditation Committee

Terms of Reference

Members of the Continuing Professional Development Accreditation Committee play a key role in developing innovative approaches and establishing the standards and processes relevant to the accreditation and re-accreditation of continuing professional development (CPD) providers.

Position under recruitment: 

  • Two members from National Specialty Societies or other national CPD providers.

Assessment Committee

Terms of Reference

Members of the Assessment Committee play a key role in the governance of assessment matters relevant to Royal College specialty certification and continuing professional development.

Positions under recruitment: 

  • One Royal College Fellow with expertise in work-based assessment.
  • One Continuing Medical Education (CME)/Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Dean.
  • One patient/family representative with experience articulating the needs of the public/patients.
