CanMEDS Clinician Educator Program

The Royal College is always working to ensure that the CanMEDS Framework and associated resources continue to be relevant to Canadian physicians. In 2007, we began recruiting highly qualified clinician educators to help support the implementation of the framework across the country.

A clinician educator is a physician with formal training (e.g., graduate degree, robust diploma program, or formal fellowship) in medical education, providing consultative advice for educational projects undertaken by faculty in the health professions.

The CanMEDS clinician educators are a small team of medical educators from across Canada and from a range of medical specialties. Together they help support the implementation of the CanMEDS Physician Competency Framework across Canada and globally and lead the scholarly output of the Royal College for faculty development and educational design. They also lead the evolution and development of the framework itself.
